Recticel Insulation for Timber Deck Roof Systems
Recticel insulation contributes to improved thermal performance for timber deck flat roofs - ideal for new builds and refurbishment projects.
Flat Roof Insulation for Timber Decks
In the UK construction industry, timber deck flat roofs are commonly used in domestic buildings and require careful insulation to ensure long-term performance and moisture control.
Warm roof deck construction is the UK's preferred choice for homes.
Recticel’s range of flat roofing insulation boards have been designed for warm roof applications. Used in this way insulation is placed above the timber deck, air and vapour control layer (AVCL) and below the waterproof membrane, protecting against rain, wind, and temperature extremes.
As the name suggests, warm flat roof construction keeps the roof deck at a similar temperature to the internal environment. This eliminates the need for ventilation by reducing condensation risk, while also minimising heat loss and improving energy efficiency.
Cold roof deck construction is not recommended and mainly used in refurbishment projects.
With cold roof decks, insulation is installed below the deck, between the ceiling joists. As such, there's no need to replace the existing waterproof layer or raise the roofline, assuming the deck's structural integrity is intact. It is critical in cold roof applications to ensure adequate crossflow ventilation.
