PIR roof technology

Future-proof your flat roof to Nordic conditions

Design freedom for large sloping roofs
Thanks to Eurofins’ Fire Technical Statement, Recticel’s Eurothane Silver E FR insulation now enables large sloping roofs—over 2,400 m²—to be built without mandatory firestop divisions, provided specific conditions are met. This simplifies design and installation, reduces layers, and ensures a hard, durable surface for roofing and future installations such as solar panels. With updated structural details and ready-to-use instruction cards, Recticel offers complete, compliant solutions for large roofing projects—making tendering and execution easier than ever.

Flat roof with steel deck for P1 & P2 buildings

In this system approach we advise two products: petralana petraroof 40mm just above the steel deck. Then you use the PE foil as vapor control layer (0,2 mm). Above that we advise to use Eurothane Silver E FR 210mm. This PIR board has a high compressive strength making sure that, after placing your waterproofing membrane, your roof is ready to support any solar panels that should be installed later.

Complete buildup:

  1. Waterproofing membrane (black bitumen, thickness 8mm)
  2. Eurothane Silver E FR 210 mm (new facer)
  3. PE-foil as vapor control layer 0,2mm
  4. Petralana Petraroof 40 mm (mineral wool)
  5. Steel deck, height of profile 130 mm

Flat roof with steel deck for P2 buildings

In this system approach we advise two products: Powerdeck Pro 50mm just above the steel deck. Then you use the PE foil as vapor control layer (0,2 mm). Above that we advise to use Eurothane Silver E FR 190mm. This PIR board has a high compressive strength making sure that, after placing your waterproofing membrane, your roof is ready to support any solar panels that should be installed later. The solution with both PIR insulation boards makes it a strong, stable and slim design of your flat roof.

Complete buildup:

  1. Waterproofing membrane (black bitumen, thickness 8mm)
  2. Eurothane Silver E FR 190 mm
  3. PE-foil as vapor control layer 0,2mm
  4. Powerdeck Pro 50 mm (black side downwards, white side upwards)
  5. Steel deck, height of profile 130 mm

Why choosing Powerdeck Pro?

As for smaller roofs, plywood is a common choice, but this comes with some downsides if you want to futureproof your roof.
So why is Powerdeck Pro a better choice?

  1. You enjoy the benefits of PIR insulation
    1. Light boards which means you keep your roof structure light
    2. Better reaction to moisture
    3. Quick to install.
  2. The installer gets immediate feedback while installing and fixing if he hits the steel deck. With plywood it is difficult to notice.
  3. No "extra" layer of material as Powerdeck Pro already is an insulation board which means you can limit the insulation on top.
